If you are going to study and live in Amsterdam, it is useful to have your dentist here as well. It saves a lot of travel and you can go quickly with any severe toothache. Many dental practices are full, so they do not take on new customers. So make sure you quickly find a dentist that suits you. If necessary, ask fellow students about their experiences.
Switching to another dentist
Before choosing a dentist, there are a number of things to consider. A dentist must always have a BIG registration. If not, you better search a little further. In addition, you can find out online which specialties the dentist has, so that you can go to the practice for as much care as possible. It is also useful if a dental hygienist is connected to the practice. Also check whether the dentist is affiliated with your health insurance and how you are insured yourself. An additional dental insurance is sometimes recommended.
If you have made the choice for a new dentist, first ask whether they accept you as a new patient. If so, you provide your personal data such as name, address, e-mail and telephone number. The next time you go to the dentist, you take your ID and insurance card with you. Don’t forget to let your old dentist know you’re switching. If possible, state that you are studying in a different place.
In Amsterdam you have a modern dental practice with three locations, called Lassus Tandartsen. They still have room and students are very welcome here. So it is handy to register there. It doesn’t matter which neighborhood you live in. See also our article about them.
